What is Watsu anyway?
The word itself consists of a combination of two words Water + Shiatsu = ‘Watsu
This is a water treatment method developed in the 1980s by Harold Dahl. Harold was a Shiatsu teacher and lived in Harbin, California.
Harbin has hot springs and Harold, just for fun, decided to take care of friends in the hot water, while incorporating the principles of Shiatsu. He quickly realized that the very stay of the body during the hot water treatment has very strong effects on both the physical and mental levels. Over time, he developed a unique treatment method called Watsu and spread it all over the world, with the help of his students. Today, almost every country has Watsu pools. The method Harold developed combines the benefits of water with his knowledge of the world of Shiatsu.
Crowds of people are looking for an effective solution to back problems, joint and joint pain and daily stress. Instead of continuing to suffer, they should know what Watsu is
Watsu, how does it work?
At the basis of the method, as mentioned earlier, is the Shiatsu method. By and large, the human body has different meridians (energy channels) and the goal is to bring the patient into a state of balance and release blockages. In classical Shiatsu therapy, the patient lies on the floor in clothing, and the therapist performs presses and stretches, referring to the meridians.
Watsu treatment is performed in warm water (34-35 degrees) with buoyancy on the back, with the head fully supported. During therapy, there is a combination of pressures along the various meridians, there is a combination of movement, connection to breathing, deep relaxation and a lot of energy of love.
Watsu therapists use, first of all, the healing and soothing element of water, buoyancy and resilience, so that Watsu patients enjoy a great sense of space, mobility, and tension. These benefits help the patient to reach a state of relaxation, deep release and a feeling of lightness .
How does it feel? Like going back to the womb
The truth? The only way to know how it feels, is to experience! The experience is very personal. Many people report a feeling of a fetus or a kind of return to the womb. It also makes a lot of sense, think about it – our body floats in warm water in our mother’s womb, without weight, with a sense of security … This is exactly how many patients feel in Watsu treatment. The memory of the fetal feeling often arises from the subconscious and it is very pleasant! However, not everyone feels like a fetus, the range of feelings is very large and everyone experiences what is right for them at that moment and everything is equally good. There are those who feel levitation, there are those who see a lot of colors, there are those who experience difficulty in losing control, there are those who experience an experience outside the body, there are those who fall asleep and more and more ….
Who is the water treatment recommended for?
Water treatment is a wonderful way to get out of the heavy feeling of the abrasive routine, relax from the daily stress and deal with pain.
Watsu treatment is recommended for a wide range of people. The treatment can greatly help people suffering from back pain, pregnant women and people looking for a natural way to relax and relieve stress.
The buoyancy force of the water neutralizes the pressure exerted on the body on land. The gentle motility in the treatment, helps to release the vertebrae of the spine. Floating in warm water helps to relax the muscles and the very fact that our ears are in the water, brings us to a state of peace and relaxation.
Watsu treatment is wonderful as a preventative medicine, for someone whose daily life is full of stress and tension.
Watsu therapy is one of the most powerful body-mind therapies available, and is very suitable for people who are in the process of personal development.
It is highly recommended to take a series of treatments and embark on the process of system recovery
Shiatsu in water
In our age, when everything is faster, more immediate and more stressful, everyone is looking for places to relax, forget about everything and disconnect. Many see the water as a place to relax, whether it’s swimming in a pool that also has a sports aspect but not only or going to the beach, which brings relaxation both at the entrance to the sea itself and while on the beach. It’s not for nothing that we feel calm in areas of water. Our bodies are made of 70% water, the primary environment in which an embryo is found before it goes out into the world is an aquatic environment. Therefore, water treatments, with an emphasis on pure living water, are also a wonderful experience that makes everyone let go and feel as if they were born again. Shiatsu in water combines the benefits of water with the Japanese Shiatsu treatment method.
What does water shiatsu include?
Shiatsu in water combines the advantages of water as an environment in which to stay and the Shiatsu treatment method. The treatment is based first of all on the levitation in the water, on the feeling of weightlessness and on the fact that, unlike on land, there is less work and wear and tear of the joints. The movement in the water is more correct for us and it is possible to bring the body to situations that were not possible on land. Beyond that, the treatment is essentially similar to “continental” shiatsu therapy. The work is on the channels through which the life energy called qi flows. The goal is to release jams that exist in the flow of energy in those channels called meridians. Shiatsu in water is done in such a way that a person surrenders to movement and releases control, which already in itself is a great thing that then brings about a great feeling.
The importance of choosing a therapist in the method
While shiatsu in the water, a person loses control and part of the matter is that wonderful levitation sensation of weightlessness and relaxation of all the limbs. For this relaxation and release to really happen, it is important that the person you depend on right during therapy is someone you trust completely. Without the feeling that you trust a person and can let him lead the process, there will be a big miss of interest. Therefore, before you go to Shiatsu water treatment, carefully check who the therapist is, how much experience and training he has, and also look at what the treatment environment is, whether it looks clean and aesthetic and can bring you to a real relaxation.

Shiatsu water treatment
One of the dreams of children, especially but also of adults, is to fly and hover. It’s not just that people are looking for ways to do it, whether it’s skydiving, a wind tunnel where the wind blows up, bungee jumping and more. Beyond the air, a feeling of levitation can also be in the water. When a person floats on the surface of the water and closes his eyes, he can feel a sense of flight and levitation. Floating in water is also more correct and natural to us because our bodies are mostly made of water and even just before we come into the world we are in water. In water there is no friction and wear of joints as on land and mobility is more significant. Shiatsu water therapy allows a person to hover and devote himself to the movement led by a qualified therapist who with the help of pressure also releases the flow of energy in the body.
Shiatsu water treatment – connecting the benefits of shiatsu with the benefits of water
Shiatsu treatment is a well-known Japanese treatment method, and today it is possible to undergo shiatsu treatments even in complementary medicine departments in the HMOs. Shiatsu water therapy includes both the principles and benefits of shiatsu and water as an ideal treatment environment. Shiatsu includes compressions at points where there is stuckness manifested by stiff muscles and pain. The same pressures that the therapist makes already lead to release and a more comfortable feeling. Water completes the process and makes it deeper. The weightlessness of the water, the easier movement and the great flexibility in the water all complete the treatment together with the complete relaxation and relaxation that can be achieved in the water.
Being in the north of the Sea of Galilee, feeling on a tropical island
Beyond the therapist’s skill and the fact that there needs to be a connection and a sense of security on the part of the patient in the therapist, Shiatsu treatment in water is also based on the atmosphere and feeling that the patient already has when he arrives at the place, even before he enters the treatment. A pool with pure living water is an ideal treatment environment, especially when it is in a green place with space and a view of the Sea of Galilee. In another drop managed by Orly Gal, a water treatment place located in Moshav Almagor above the Sea of Galilee, the patient feels as if he is on vacation in Seychelles or the Maldives, without spending huge sums of money on vacation. Shiatsu water treatment given on the spot makes patients leave with a smile and a feeling as if they were born again. Feel free to contact us
